Unlike many reviewers I can honestly say I know the author and witnessed some of his stories. we both attended neighboring Ursuline Nun controlled schools and survived numerous beatings, degrading and humiliating treatment. My father a Cleveland Policeman interceded on my and other students behalf with the Principal several times, black Eyes, bleeding ears, broken fingers, bruises on knees from kneeling on pencils for long time periods.
I met Joe in High School after he moved into my neighborhood. Would have to say most of us didn't know what he had been through. Joe never started trouble, he acted out no different than anyone else.
The authors ability to tell his story and understand his victimization and go on to a successful happy life can be an example for al! I am proud to call him my classmate. TAJ72
